Shopify + Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Integration of Shopify with Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Our solution for integrating Shopify with Microsoft Dynamics NAV reliably transfers data for modules such as Orders Received, Invoices Issued, Product Cards and more. Symmy automatically monitors, transforms and validates all data during transfer. In case of an error, you will be notified immediately. Save time and get rid of manual processes — minimise errors with full automation.

Symmy connects Shopify with Microsoft Dynamics NAV: orders flow from the e-shop into NAV, while products, stock levels, prices and invoices flow back. Both systems keep working the way your team knows — the integration moves the data in between. Connecting one module takes 6–12 hours of work depending on the module type; we confirm the exact scope after an initial call.

What we transfer and how often

    Module Direction Default interval
Product cards Microsoft Dynamics NAV → Shopify 60 min
Stock availability Microsoft Dynamics NAV → Shopify 60 min
Prices Microsoft Dynamics NAV → Shopify 60 min
Issued invoices Microsoft Dynamics NAV → Shopify 60 min
Parcel tracking numbers Microsoft Dynamics NAV → Shopify 60 min
Orders Shopify → Microsoft Dynamics NAV 15 min
Customers Shopify → Microsoft Dynamics NAV 60 min

E-shops are the most common counterparty, but the same modules also flow to CRM, WMS or B2B portals. These values are defaults, not fixed rules. The direction and interval can be changed for each module, and modules not listed here can be added — we shorten the interval when your operation needs a faster response, or extend it when less frequent synchronisation is enough.

    How the connection works

On the Shopify side we use the Admin API (REST and GraphQL). On the NAV side we connect through its web services — OData or SOAP, depending on your NAV version.

Dynamics NAV installations differ a lot: version, customisations and hosting all affect what the web services expose. That is why we start with a short analysis of your NAV before committing to a scope.

    What to watch out for

    1. 1

NAV versions differ — the analysis comes first.

An older on-premise NAV exposes different web services than a recent one, and custom fields change the picture further. We verify what your installation actually offers before we promise a scope, so the quote matches reality.

    2. 2

Shopify variants vs. NAV item cards.

Shopify treats sizes and colours as variants of one product; NAV tracks items its own way. We agree on the mapping key (SKU or item number) upfront, so stock and prices always meet the right variant.

    3. 3

One system must own the stock truth.

If both NAV and Shopify keep their own stock counts, they drift apart within days. We recommend NAV as the source of truth, with Shopify displaying availability — reservations included.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does the integration cost?

We charge 85 € excl. VAT per hour. Connecting one module takes 6–12 hours depending on its type, more for larger systems — we confirm the exact scope after an initial call. The calculator above gives an estimate for your combination of modules.

Which NAV versions do you support?

We connect through NAV web services (OData or SOAP), which are available across NAV versions including older on-premise installations. The initial analysis confirms what your specific version exposes.

What happens when NAV is unavailable?

The synchronisation retries in the next interval, repeatedly, until the connection is restored. An alert goes out the moment a problem is detected, so you know about an outage before it affects orders.

Can the integration handle product variants?

Yes. Shopify variants are mapped to NAV items through a mapping key such as SKU — provided the data allows a reliable match.
